Don Rickles Biography

 Don Rickles was an American stand-up comedian, author, and actor. He was well-known and well-respected entertainer. He was a combination of humor and quick wit, as well as his sincere love for his audience, that led to him becoming a magnet for laughter, enjoyment and entertainment. He was a frequent participant on the celebrity roast circuit due to his incredible talent of making an insult seem funny and inoffensive. His insults, which were hurtful and savage, attracted a lot of attention. Yet, the recipient would still laugh. He started his career as a regular comedian, who would perform routinely-prepared jokes. However, he soon realized that the audience loved his impromptu jokes more than his scripted material. His unique style won him many admirers, including Frank Sinatra. He also appeared in a variety of film and TV productions. He also produced two comedy albums. He has been the recipient of many awards, such as a Lifetime Achievement award at The Comedy Awards. He was a stand-up comic and earned a number of nicknames, such as 'The Merchant of Venom' and 'The Insultan'  and 'Mr. Stand-up comedy was initially a way to supplement his income and he eventually created his "insult comedian" brand. The 1970s saw him take on an important part in the blockbuster film, Kelly's Heroes (1970) that starred Clint Eastwood. He was a regular in television comedies like  The Dean Martin Roasts' (1972), and The Don Rickles Show,' (1973). Barbara Sklar and Don Rickles were married on March 14, 1966. The couple had two kids: Mindy and Larry. Their son passed away in the year the year 2011. His most cherished friend was Bob Newhart and the two often went on vacation along with their wives. They were a couple who appeared on many TV shows together, including 'Newhart'. Don Rickles was also a good acquaintance of Bob Newhart and they frequently vacationed together in California.
